BIO
I’m Jamey ‘Cactus’ Vella, a Toronto/Wasaga Beach-based designer with a passion for turning ideas into reality. My design career started in the world of music and live events, creating posters, album covers, and visuals that brought shows to life. Over time, my work expanded into the corporate and non-profit sectors, managing design contracts and collaborating with startups, production houses, federations, and creative agencies on local, national, and global scales.
I still remember designing my first event poster back in high school—a cut-and-paste collage made with scissors, magazines, and a Xerox machine. At the time, I thought it was a masterpiece. Years later, when a friend introduced me to Adobe Photoshop, everything changed. That was the moment I realized design was more than just a passion—it was my path.
With over 15 years of experience, I’ve worked across print, digital, video, and audio, blending creativity with strategy in design, branding, campaign execution, and marketing. My passion is crafting compelling visual stories that connect with audiences and drive real results. In June 2017, I was featured in Photoshop User Magazine—a huge milestone that validated years of dedication to my craft.
Beyond design, I’m passionate about giving back, especially through charities that support children and youth. When I’m not creating, I’m hanging with my family, blasting punk records, or curating my ever-growing collection of vintage toys. Nerd.
